SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional will be a secondary purchase that is available for all customers, on or off maintenance. SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard will be included with every seat of SOLIDWORKS on current subscription. SOLIDWORKS did update the user interface a bit and refined the product as a whole. SOLIDWORKS CAM is powered by CAMWorks and looks consistent with legacy CAMWorks. SOLIDWORKS thought the same thing when they decided to bring on CAMWorks under the SOLIDWORKS umbrella. The first question you may have is, “where did this product come from?” Well, as some of you know, CADimensions has been selling CAMWorks for a number of years due to its seamless integration in SOLIDWORKS. With the 2018 release, any customer on subscription will have access to SOLIDWORKS CAM! With so many great partner products available, SOLIDWORKS hadn’t felt the need to provide a native CAM solution. Now we have the add-in on we can start applying toolpaths directly to our SOLIDWORKS model.
To get using SOLIDWORKS CAM all you need to do is to check the add-in on in the add-ins menu which can be access easily on the drop down of the settings cog at the top of a SOLIDWORKS window. SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard is great for getting CNC code for milled prismatic parts, but its capability can extend to fit your machining needs, including 5 axis and mill turn if required. SOLIDWORKS CAM has an integrated CAM package for All customers with a SOLIDWORKS subscription can start using SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard straight away.
